Ce rendez-vous annuel fut encore une fois exceptionnel, tant par sa fr\u00e9quentation que par la r\u00e9ussite de son organisation.<\/p>\n

Il y eut d\u2019abord la marche-m\u00e9moire organis\u00e9e par L\u2019Esparge\u00a0: une marche de 28 km pr\u00e9par\u00e9e et assur\u00e9e par Bernard Fran\u00e7ois dans le secteur des \u00c9parges, Combres, Herbeuville, Saint Remy la Calonne, Mont-Villers, Mesnil et Tr\u00e9sauvaux\u00a0; des lieux riches d\u2019empreintes laiss\u00e9es par la Grande Guerre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Puis, en nocturne, ce fut la traditionnelle marche aux flambeaux.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La Flamme du Soldat Inconnu pr\u00e9lev\u00e9e sous l\u2019Arc de Triomphe \u00e0 l\u2019aube du 1er<\/sup> novembre arrive \u00e0 Verdun dans la soir\u00e9e apr\u00e8s un p\u00e9riple de 300 km effectu\u00e9 par des sportifs volontaires. L\u00e0, elle est solennellement accueillie et veill\u00e9e dans la crypte du Monument \u00e0 la Victoire o\u00f9, pendant 10 jours, chaque soir, des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles d\u2019associations patriotiques se relaient pour lui rendre les honneurs. Le 10 novembre, en fin d\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi, au cours d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie \u00e0 la n\u00e9cropole du Faubourg Pav\u00e9, elle est confi\u00e9e aux maires des villages d\u00e9truits qui la rapportent au c\u0153ur de leur commune o\u00f9, le lendemain 11 novembre, elle est d\u00e9pos\u00e9e au pied du monument aux morts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aux \u00c9parges, c\u2019est le soir du 10 novembre que le maire accomplit le geste m\u00e9moriel.<\/p>\n

Lorsqu\u2019il arrive dans le village apr\u00e8s avoir per\u00e7u la Flamme, il fait nuit.<\/p>\n

D\u00e9j\u00e0, sur la place Maurice Genevoix, un public de plus en plus nombreux se regroupe et attend que les flambeaux soient distribu\u00e9s par les enfants du village.<\/p>\n

A 20h, la Flamme est partag\u00e9e, chaque participant allume son flambeau et rejoint le cort\u00e8ge qui s\u2019\u00e9branle dans la nuit sombre et ouat\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la n\u00e9cropole du Trottoir. L\u00e0, soudain, le d\u00e9cor s\u2019illumine et s\u2019anime. Tous, petits et grands, transform\u00e9s l\u2019espace d\u2019un soir en porteurs de lumi\u00e8re au milieu des tombes immobiles sont saisis par l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re empreinte de recueillement et d\u2019\u00e9merveillement. Instant magique. D\u00e9marche authentique et noble. Tous \u00e2ges et toutes professions confondus, nous avons accompli notre p\u00e8lerinage en hommage \u00e0 tous les combattants dont les corps reposent l\u00e0 depuis plus d\u2019un si\u00e8cle, mur\u00e9s dans le silence de la mort. Nous \u00e9tions nombreux autour de la Flamme allum\u00e9e au pied de l\u2019ossuaire : familles venues des villages alentour, d\u2019autres venues de plus loin, coll\u00e9giens fran\u00e7ais et allemands, porte-drapeaux, pompiers, soldats du G\u00e9nie et du 132\u00e8me RI, gendarmes, maires des communes voisines et autorit\u00e9s militaires\u2026<\/p>\n
